New directors appointed for five hospitals

With the aim of making the administrative activities of the hospital system more efficient and ensuring the highest quality healthcare service for the people of this country, new directors were appointed yesterday (02) at the Ministry of Health for five leading hospitals on the island.

These appointments have been made subject to the approval granted by the Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission, and official appointment letters were presented to five officers representing the senior administrative grade in the health sector.

According to these new appointments, Dr. W. M. U. S. Wijemanna has been appointed as the new Director of the South Colombo (Kalubowila) Teaching Hospital, and Dr. D. A. K. Perera has been appointed as the new Director of the North Colombo (Ragama) Teaching Hospital. Concurrently, Dr. W. A. P. P. Ratnasekara received his appointment letter as the new Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Colombo.

In addition, new heads have been appointed for the main teaching hospitals of Batticaloa and Peradeniya. Accordingly, Dr. G. Sukunan was appointed as the new Director of the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, and Dr. W. M. C. M. Wijesinghe was appointed as the Director of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.

The importance of everyone working with strong dedication for the well-being of the health sector was particularly emphasized to the new board of officials.

For the occasion of presenting these appointment letters, Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, Specialist Doctor Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, Additional Secretary to the Ministry, G. M. Janaka Kithsiri Gunawardena, and Deputy Director General (Medical Services), Dr. Sagari Kiriwandeniya, along with others, were present.
