However, Mr. Gamage points out that prison authorities have failed to refer her to the relevant doctor, disregarding the court order. He questions whether the power to make decisions regarding a patient's treatment has now fallen into the hands of prison officials, emphasizing that this is a very regrettable situation.

Meanwhile, various news reports have emerged stating that Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa will be referred to the National Hospital or an eye hospital after being examined by doctors at the prison hospital.

However, Mr. Manoj Gamage states that in the context of a direct court order, prison officials have no legal right to alter or disregard it, and that this is an entirely wrongful act.
