The government states that it will strictly enforce the law against various individuals attempting to create instability and a subversive atmosphere in the country, using the recently discussed 'robe incident' as a pretext. Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala, emphasizes that intelligence teams have already been deployed to investigate such groups.

He firmly declares that under no circumstances will the country be allowed to become unstable.

However, the Minister points out that even within this strict policy of ensuring national security, full opportunities are available for citizens' democratic rights. There are no obstacles from the current government for peaceful marches and free protests. Mr. Ananda Wijepala states that there is space not just for a day or two, but even for two or three years if necessary, to engage in peaceful sit-in protests without disturbing the public, and assures that the government will protect this right very well.

Meanwhile, the government has already taken necessary steps regarding the 'robe issue' that led to the crisis. The Minister mentions that the President has appointed a special committee and taken appropriate measures for this. However, he further clarified that the President is not at all prepared to act outside the decisions given by the judiciary in resolving this issue.

The Minister recalled how some presidential pardons granted outside the law in the past were later annulled by the judiciary itself. Recalling that background, the Minister of Public Security further emphasizes that no action will be taken above the rule of law under the current administration.
