Steps have been taken to interdict a Chief Police Inspector who served as the Officer-in-Charge of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Eheliyagoda Police Station. The reason for this is the inclusion of false information in police logbooks without any fair investigation regarding two youths arrested on a false charge of possessing 'ice' drug.

According to reports, on the third of last month, a sergeant from the Eheliyagoda Police drove a police jeep alone to the Pallegoda area. There, he arrested these two youths on suspicion, claiming they were in possession of 'ice' drug, and brought them to the police station. On the day of this incident, the relevant Chief Police Inspector was also covering duties as the acting Officer-in-Charge of the Eheliyagoda Police.

Investigations have revealed that this officer, who did not conduct a proper inquiry into the two arrested youths, filed false information in the police logbooks stating that he had made the arrest himself, a senior police officer stated. In light of this situation, a special investigation has been launched on the direct instructions of Mr. Wasantha Kithsiri Jayalath, the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police for Sabaragamuwa Province. Based on the information revealed during this investigation, the duties of the relevant Chief Police Inspector were suspended the day before yesterday.
