Due to the 'Arnab' minor storm condition that has developed in the Bay of Bengal sea area, nearly 25 of the country's multi-day fishing vessels, which were unable to return to Sri Lanka and were affected, have now been granted permission to enter Indian territorial waters and seek safety.

According to a statement issued by the Media Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic Resources and Marine Resources, this step has been taken in response to a special request made by the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka to the Indian government. The request was made after authorities identified that the Sri Lankan fishing vessels were stranded in the sea area close to India due to adverse weather conditions.

The media secretary's statement further emphasized that, based on the weather advisories issued regarding the prevailing risky situation, the multi-day fishing vessels have already been instructed to immediately leave the affected sea areas and proceed to safe locations.
