Namal Rajapaksa's private secretary arrested

Mr. Sanjaya Samarasinghe, the private secretary to Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

It is reported that he was arrested today (19) when he appeared before the said commission to give a statement.

A few days before this arrest, specifically on the 17th, officers of the Bribery Commission conducted a sudden inspection of Mr. Samarasinghe's house in Mount Lavinia. During that search, a safe found in the house was also taken into custody by the investigating officers.

However, no further details regarding this arrest have been reported yet.
