Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption this morning (01) to give a statement related to an investigation conducted by the commission. His appearance comes after the Bribery Commission reported to the Colombo Magistrate's Court on the 28th that the investigations against him regarding alleged irregularities in sending workers for agricultural jobs in Israel during the previous government's tenure have been completely concluded.

When the relevant case was called before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on that day, officials of the Bribery Commission informed the court that the completed investigation files have now been submitted to the commissioners of the commission for further action.

Accordingly, officials of the Bribery Commission also requested the Magistrate for a date to inform the court about the future steps to be taken regarding the said case.

The Chief Magistrate, after considering all the facts presented, ordered the relevant case to be called again on December 18, and further directed the Bribery Commission to report its future progress to the court on that day.

This case stems from an allegation against the former minister of misusing power and committing corruption by selecting individuals based on political affiliations under the program of sending agricultural workers to Israel during the previous government's tenure.

Based on that allegation, the Bribery Commission had previously taken steps to arrest Manusha Nanayakkara on suspicion and present him to the court.
