Did an actor come to Viharamahadevi Park at night with two knives?

A suspicious individual who arrived at the Satyagraha site in Colombo's Viharamahadevi Park yesterday (21) night, where a protest is being held demanding the release of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero, caused some commotion at the location. However, the Kurunduwatta Police immediately intervened and arrested this individual who was behaving suspiciously at the protest site, and by then, two sharp weapons were found in his possession.

Police investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect is a retired army member residing in the Ragama area. The police also confirmed that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of his arrest. The Kurunduwatta Police are currently holding this suspect and conducting further interrogations.

This unexpected incident that occurred at the protest site organized to demand the release of Ven. Gnanasara Thero has become a major topic of discussion across social media. However, the striking aspect is that many people, rather than seeing this incident as a real threat, are heavily ridiculing it as a mere "performance" or "drama."

According to the opinions and reactions circulating on social media, the majority accuse this incident of being a deliberate act, executed according to a planned script, either to gain public attention or to strengthen security. Many social media users have criticized that in a context where public attention is gradually waning, such incidents are attempts to artificially create attention.

Nevertheless, law enforcement agencies have launched a broad investigation into the security of the Satyagraha site, as well as the true motive behind the retired army officer's arrival, armed and intoxicated.
