A serious complaint has been lodged with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption against Messrs. Bathiya Jayakody and Santhush Weeraman, two extremely popular singers in Sri Lanka. The complaint alleges that they have continuously evaded paying millions of rupees in taxes owed to the government by not properly banking the enormous incomes earned through music concerts held across the island.

This written complaint was submitted to the Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption by a resident of the Anuradhapura area. According to the complaint, these two artists, performing under the name 'BnS', charge over one million rupees for a single concert. However, the complainant emphasizes that instead of transferring these massive incomes through official bank accounts, they have been receiving cash payments, thereby perpetrating this tax fraud for a considerable period.

To further substantiate this financial irregularity, the complainant has also suggested examining the transactions of the twenty most recent music concerts they participated in before October 1, 2026. His opinion is that this would allow for an accurate assessment of the due tax revenue lost by the government. The complaint strongly urges the Bribery Commission to conduct a swift and independent investigation into this matter and to intervene to enforce the law and recover the entire lost tax amount for the financial loss incurred by the government.
