A father was murdered by his daughter's husband

A tragic family dispute ended with the death of a 70-year-old father who was assaulted by his daughter's husband, a report from Nittambuwa, Dangollawatta area states.

This incident occurred yesterday (10) evening in the Ihala Dangollawatta area, which falls under the Nittambuwa police division. Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the cause of this murder was an altercation between the deceased and his 26-year-old son-in-law. Following the escalation of the verbal exchange, the son-in-law assaulted his father-in-law with a stick, committing this crime.

The elderly father, who was seriously injured in the assault, was immediately admitted to Wathupitiwala Base Hospital. However, a complaint received by the Nittambuwa Police states that he died after being admitted to the hospital.

The 26-year-old suspect, who assaulted and killed his wife's father with a stick, fled the area after the crime. Nittambuwa Police are currently conducting further investigations to apprehend him.
