With the prevailing adverse weather conditions, a massive Bo tree has fallen onto a row of line houses where estate workers live in the Thebuwana area of Kalutara, leaving many families in severe distress. The tree fell on a row of houses inhabited by thirteen Tamil families in the Mabadawatta area, which belongs to the 809A Thebuwana West Grama Seva Division, under the Dodangoda Divisional Secretariat.

Due to this sudden disaster, six line rooms have been severely damaged, and five families living in five of those houses have been rendered helpless. Following this unexpected devastation, members of the displaced families have now been temporarily accommodated in their relatives' homes.

Live footage showing the massive Bo tree falling onto the row of line rooms has also been recorded, further confirming the horrific nature of the disaster.

Subsequently, efforts to promptly remove the fallen Bo tree and debris have already commenced. The Kalutara District Disaster Management Coordinating Unit and the Dodangoda Pradeshiya Sabha are jointly carrying out these activities very diligently. In addition, the Divisional Secretariat, the Arappalakanda Estate management, and the Ceylon Electricity Board are also providing their full support to restore the affected area.
