Another crucial piece of information regarding a cocaine trafficking operation involving four foreign nationals has been revealed from the Colombo National Hospital. This came with the discovery of another quantity of cocaine cleverly hidden inside the body of an arrested foreign national woman during hospital examinations.
The beginning of this incident is marked on the evening of October 12, 2026. According to information received, a team of officers from the Colombo District Crime Division launched a special operation centered around a hotel and a supermarket complex located in the Kollupitiya police division. As a result, investigating officers successfully apprehended two foreign male suspects and two foreign female suspects along with 1 kilogram and 46 grams of cocaine.
Subsequently, the arrested male and female suspects were produced before the Fort Magistrate's Court, and further investigations were carried out based on a seven-day detention order obtained there. During these investigations, to check whether the suspects had also hidden drugs inside their bodies, investigators took steps to obtain a special order from the court.
Accordingly, on the 16th, this group was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital and kept under residential observation for examination. There, 80 grams and 09 milligrams of cocaine, which had been expelled from the body of one foreign female suspect and hidden in a wrapper, were able to be found.
The Colombo District Crime Division is currently conducting further investigations into these arrests and the network connected to them.
