His wife has been arrested today (25) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, on charges of bribing an an office assistant at the Colombo High Court to convert the prison sentence imposed on former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena into a suspended sentence.
Investigations have revealed that these bribe monies were given with the intention of influencing the relevant court judge.
In relation to this incident, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption will conduct further investigations, and the arrested suspect is to be produced before the court.
