Trump launches a 'Trump TV Live' YouTube channel as mainstream channels boycott coverage.

Amidst the intense controversy between the White House and major media organizations, the White House has taken steps to launch a 24/7 YouTube video service called "Trump TV," dedicated solely to promoting the achievements of President Donald Trump and his administration. This live broadcast, launched against the backdrop of major television channels boycotting the President's live media coverage, began at 7:00 PM ET on July 3rd, re-broadcasting a recording of Trump's speech delivered at Mount Rushmore.

Trump's short speech at the inauguration of a newly constructed helicopter pad at the White House on Monday was not clearly audible via the White House live stream due to the engine noise of the Marine One helicopter. A Newsmax announcer, who broadcast the event, stated that since the media pool cameras were not present, no microphones had been set up either.

The immediate cause of this crisis was the administration's decision to ban three media organizations—CNN, MS NOW, and Politico—from the White House starting Friday, accusing them of engaging in negative reporting against the President. These media organizations have taken legal action against the government, claiming a violation of freedom of expression. In solidarity, media networks ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC collectively suspended their media pool coverage of the President's events. "No administration can restrict a media organization in protest of its reporting," the channels stated in a joint declaration. CNN was responsible for distributing footage of Monday's event to other television networks as part of the media pool.

While it is not yet clear whether the purpose of this "Trump TV" YouTube channel is to fill the void created by the cessation of the President's media coverage, the White House stated that it was launched to provide the public with "all the unforgettable moments, announcements, and the best information from the administration in one place." The White House also announced on social media, "Every special moment your TV missed can now be watched." Kaelan Dorr, White House Director of Digital Strategy and Deputy Assistant to the President, stated that since the media had misreported or completely overlooked the administration's historic achievements, this would be an opportunity for the public to view the government's successes without any filters.

With the media ban and the launch of this YouTube service, the Trump administration has faced strong criticism for attempting to control information. Newsom stated in a social media post that first banning independent media and then launching a directly state-controlled television to hide the failures of himself and his corrupt administration is the dictatorial behavior of a failed president.

Democratic Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona also condemned these actions, stating that state-controlled media, state-owned enterprises, prosecuting political opponents, accepting gifts from foreign countries, selling pardons, massive amounts of money flowing into the President's bank account, and displaying banners with his image on state buildings are not characteristics of a normal democracy.

Stephanie Grisham, who served as White House Press Secretary during Trump's first term, stated that "Trump TV" is similar to tactics used by America's rival countries like Russia, China, and Iran. Additionally, Weijia Jiang, former president of the White House Correspondents' Association and senior correspondent for CBS News, previously emphasized on Fox News Sunday that the United States cannot have state-controlled media, and if the government starts broadcasting only what it wants to show, people will have to question what is being hidden from them.
