Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to immediately arrest and produce before the court Thilini Priyamali, the owner of Thico Group of Companies, who is currently out on bail after being accused of defrauding millionaire businessmen of billions of rupees by claiming she would invest in businesses.

The suspect's failure to appear in open court when the case filed against her was called has been the main reason for issuing this warrant. Furthermore, it was revealed that the two individuals who appeared in court as sureties for the suspect were not the actual persons who provided bail, which also contributed to this decision. Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to proceed with the case under Section 192 without the suspect, and also took steps to issue notices to the actual sureties for Thilini Priyamali, instructing them to appear in court on the next hearing date.

When the cases related to these financial fraud charges filed against six individuals, including Thilini Priyamali, were called, several other suspects had also evaded court, and only their sureties appeared on their behalf. Janaki Siriwardhana, another suspect in this case, is currently remanded in connection with another case, her lawyer informed the court. Additionally, Ven. Boralle Sirisumana Thero, who is out on bail in connection with this incident, appeared before the court that day, and his request to travel abroad was granted by the court.

The Magistrate ordered the case to be postponed to November 17 for further proceedings in the relevant hearings. Furthermore, the court further ordered that all other cases filed against Thilini Priyamali and the group be recalled on March 31 of next year.
