The body of one of the two youths swept away at Kitulgala has been found.

Kitulgala Police report that two youths who went to bathe in Mannakethi Ella, located in the Mahabage area of Kitulgala, were caught in a strong current and swept away. This accident occurred on the afternoon of the 23rd.

The two youths who unfortunately faced this accident were working at a hotel near the waterfall. They have been identified as 20-year-old Hasitha Imash, a resident of Kurunduwatta, Gampola, and 21-year-old Dimuthu Tharanga Gunaratne, a resident of Udabulathgama, Ambagamuwa.

On the afternoon of the incident, the police and local residents were able to find the body of one youth in an area below the waterfall. That body is currently deposited at Kitulgala Hospital.

Kitulgala Police officers and local residents are continuing a special search operation to find the other youth who was caught in the current and went missing.
