Taylor Swift sets a new record at the MTV Music Awards.

American singer Taylor Swift has set a new record by becoming the most successful artist in the history of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Swift, 36, attended the awards night in Los Angeles dressed in a black 'Tamara Ralph Couture' corset and a silver mesh skirt.

Previously, she was tied with Beyoncé with 30 awards, but this time she managed to increase her total MTV awards to 33 by winning three more awards.

There, she received the Best Video of the Year award for her song 'The Fate of Ophelia' and the Best Direction award for her song 'Opalite', and she was also honored with the newly introduced inaugural MTV Video Music Awards Director's Honor Award. Swift dedicated this achievement to the renowned singer Dolly Parton, who passed away last month at the age of 80 after suffering from cancer. Furthermore, a special highlight was the release of her latest music video 'Patient Zero', directed by and starring Swift, on the very night of the awards ceremony. 

In this music video, Hollywood actors Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell play the main characters. It depicts Johnson's character being pursued by the spirit of her husband's first wife (portrayed by Swift), who mysteriously died due to his initially charming but later mentally abusive and deceitful actions. Additionally, model Cara Delevingne, who appeared in Swift's 'Bad Blood' video in 2014, also makes a brief appearance in a scene depicting the awards ceremony.

Meanwhile, 68-year-old Madonna also showed a remarkable performance at this year's awards ceremony, winning 7 awards. This included the Best Artist of the Year and Best Album awards for her 'Confessions II' album. This was Madonna's first performance on the MTV Awards stage since her kiss with Britney Spears in 2003, and she performed with Sabrina Carpenter.
