Police warns to be vigilant about the GOV PAY fake website.

The police have issued a public warning about a fake website designed to mimic the GOV PAY system, with the aim of stealing money and sensitive personal information from motorists.

Police reveal that this fake website is being promoted through links found in SMS and WhatsApp messages received on mobile phones. People have been tricked into making payments through this fraudulent platform, cunningly informed to pay fines for traffic offenses.

The police emphasize that there is no other separate website for making payments through GOV PAY and urge motorists to refrain from clicking on any suspicious links or providing their financial and personal information.

The GOV PAY system was introduced earlier this year with the aim of making the process of paying fines for traffic offenses online easier and minimizing the risk of financial fraud.

Commenting on this, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic) W. P. J. Senadheera stated that motorists should be especially cautious in this regard. He also emphasized that GOV PAY payments should not be made through any website other than the official platform.
