Permission for Namal, who is imprisoned for bribery fraud, to attend Parliament.

The Secretary-General of Parliament has informed the Commissioner-General of Prisons to provide the necessary facilities for Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, Attorney-at-Law and National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, who is currently remanded due to receiving a 100 million dollar bribe in the Airbus aircraft deal, to attend upcoming parliamentary sessions.

This notification was made by the Secretary-General of Parliament, Attorney-at-Law Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera, by sending a letter, considering Mr. Namal Rajapaksa's request to be allowed to attend the House. Accordingly, Mr. Rajapaksa is highly likely to attend the parliamentary session scheduled to be held from tomorrow (08) until the 11th.

The Colombo High Court had ordered on September 4th to remand Mr. Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested on charges of receiving a US$2 million bribe in the highly controversial Airbus aircraft procurement process, until the upcoming September 18th.
