According to Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, who was arrested on bribery charges and remanded for two weeks, an administrator of his Facebook page posted a Facebook note today around 10 PM. Since he is currently in remand prison, he is prohibited from using social media, but this post, published by the administrator in a way that avoids legal issues, indicates it was a pre-prepared note.

There, he expresses that he has received punishment today as a complete political vendetta, and he has commented as if he has committed no wrong.

The note is below

"For two years, they claimed they had evidence against us. They said they would recover the stolen money and reveal the truth. If there is any evidence against me, I am ready to face a fair and impartial investigation. If any wrongdoing has been committed, I am ready to act under the relevant legal framework.

I emphasize that hateful political vendettas should not be carried out under the guise of law. Today, steps have been taken to remand me until September 18. Tomorrow, public meetings are scheduled to be held as the government completes two years in power, and the President will address the people there. At a time when many serious questions have arisen about what has truly been accomplished for the people after two years of governance, it is difficult to ignore today's incident. Furthermore, thousands of people are expected to gather for our massive public rally scheduled to be held in Anuradhapura on September 12.

I have nothing to fear. I have nothing to hide. I face all these challenges with the determination to stand for what I have always believed to be right and for the people I represent.

My freedom can only be taken away for a certain period. But my voice, my beliefs, or my dedication to the people of my beloved motherland cannot be snatched away. Political power is temporary. Truth is eternal.

History will bear witness to what purpose all these events served, and when and by whom they were carried out. I face all of this fearlessly. - Namal Rajapaksa

Admin note : This statement is published on behalf of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa."
