Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to Sri Lanka tomorrow (08)

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to undertake a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka from September 8 to 10. This has been confirmed in a statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) in New Delhi on behalf of the Indian Ministry of Defence.

During this visit, he will hold discussions with the Sri Lankan leadership on various issues and also meet and interact with the Indian community in Colombo.

A high-level delegation comprising senior officials from the Indian Ministry of Defence and Ministry of External Affairs is accompanying Mr. Rajnath Singh on this visit. The statement further mentions that the relationship between India and Sri Lanka is one with deep civilizational roots, characterized by a multifaceted partnership based on regional security, defence, economic and trade cooperation, as well as strong people-to-people ties.

India's support during Sri Lanka's economic crisis and its role as one of the first countries to provide relief after 'Cyclone Ditwah' in 2025 have further strengthened the bilateral relations between the two countries. This visit demonstrates India's unwavering commitment to its 'Neighbourhood First' policy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'MAHASAGAR' (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) concept.

The Indian Ministry of Defence further states that this visit will pave the way for further developing bilateral relations in mutually beneficial areas for both countries, including a strong maritime and defence partnership.
