Deshabandu, implicated by Shani and Ravi in the Easter attack, faces trouble.

The Supreme Court has ruled that the fundamental rights of Mr. Ravi Senewiratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, and Mr. Shani Abeysekara, the current Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), were violated during investigations conducted based on a complaint regarding the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks during the last presidential election period. The relevant ruling states that these fundamental rights were violated by three individuals, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.

The two petitioners had filed this fundamental rights petition during the last presidential election period, requesting an order to prevent their unlawful arrest in connection with the Easter attacks investigations. The Supreme Court issued this order after hearing the relevant petition.

According to the court ruling, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Palitha Siriwardhana, who filed the relevant complaint, must pay Rs. 50,000 each to the petitioners Mr. Shani Abeysekara and Mr. Ravi Senewiratne. Furthermore, the Supreme Court has ordered that Induka de Silva, the then Chief Inspector of Police of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who conducted the relevant investigation, must also pay Rs. 10,000 each to the two petitioners.
