A counter-terrorism operation near the RAF Fairford Air Base in Britain

A massive security operation has been launched near RAF Fairford airbase in Gloucestershire, located in the western part of Britain, and five suspects have been arrested on charges of preparing for a terrorist act and possessing explosives. Bomb disposal units are thoroughly inspecting several vehicles parked near the airbase, and the police have taken steps to evacuate about eighty-five families from nearby homes to safe locations. This emergency operation began based on information received by the police that three suspicious vehicles were heading towards the airbase around 00:45 AM on Sunday.

Local police further confirm that the five suspects were arrested in the village of Whelford, about two miles from the base, and a 400-meter security cordon has been established around the area. Aerial footage also confirmed the use of a remote-controlled robot to inspect two white vans parked in a wooded area. Investigations into this incident are being led by the UK Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), with the American military providing full support to ensure the safety of its personnel and local residents. The suspects, initially arrested under the Explosives Act, are currently being held and questioned under the Terrorism Act 2000, and investigators have the power to detain them for up to 14 days without charge.

American President Donald Trump also commented on the incident, stating that those arrested had planned to cause massive destruction. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, commenting on the incident, emphasized that it was a matter of grave concern and that the government would take every possible measure to ensure public safety. The country's Defence Secretary Wes Streeting also stated to the media that he is in constant contact with American authorities regarding this matter. RAF Fairford base is a major strategic hub used by the American Air Force since the Cold War, and it was recently used for defensive strikes against Iran with the approval of former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
