3 swords in a three-wheeler that ignored police orders and sped off in Dematagoda

Five individuals along with three swords have been arrested after police fired shots at a three-wheeler that disregarded police orders and was driving near Dematagoda Weluwana Vidyalaya. Borella Police state that another suspect who was in the three-wheeler fled during this incident.

It has been revealed that this group traveled by three-wheeler to attack a house in the Kompannaweediya area, with the intention of retaliating for an assault that occurred in the same area on the 18th. According to information received by the Kompannaweediya Police, when officers attempted to arrest the suspects, they evaded the police and fled. As police officers pursued them, the suspects arrived in the Borella area.

Officers of the Borella Police, who were aware of this three-wheeler disregarding police orders, signaled it to stop. However, as the vehicle continued to drive without stopping, the police took steps to stop it by firing shots. Subsequently, the group of suspects in the three-wheeler and the swords in their possession were arrested.

Those arrested are residents of the Laksanda Sewana apartment complex in the Salamulla area of Kolonnawa. Under the instructions of Chief Police Inspector Manjula Thushara, the OIC of Borella Police, a police team including Chief Police Inspector P.H.S. Gunaratne is conducting further investigations into the incident.
