104 new metro buses on 7 Colombo routes from tomorrow

With the aim of providing a successful solution to the severe traffic congestion in Colombo city and to provide passengers with a safer and more convenient transportation experience, 104 new Metro buses are scheduled to be added for passenger transport starting tomorrow (29). Relevant authorities indicate that these buses will operate along 07 main routes covering the Western Province.

Mr. S.M.U.P. Thilakarathne, Chairman of Metro Bus Company, stated that all arrangements have been made to launch this new bus service for public use tomorrow under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Since this service, operating centered in Colombo city, will entirely follow a fixed schedule, passengers will have the opportunity to reach their destinations on time without any delays.

Limiting the enormous number of private vehicles entering Colombo city daily has been the primary objective of this program. The Chairman further emphasized that their main goal is to create a long-term and sustainable solution for the severe traffic congestion in Colombo city by encouraging more people to use public transport services.
