During a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat under the chairmanship of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the current progress of projects and programs implemented by the Ministry of Digital Economy in 2026 has been extensively reviewed. According to the facts revealed here, it is planned to make all vehicle fine payments exclusively through the 'govPay' system starting from the upcoming September.

Furthermore, a statement issued by the Presidential Media Division indicates that the country's first digital identity card is expected to be issued to the public before the end of this year.




To accelerate and strengthen the digital transformation process in the public sector, the President has instructed the relevant officials to take steps to establish the information technology service as a nationwide public service.

The government's main objective is to elevate Sri Lanka's digital economy to a level of USD 30 billion by the year 2030. To achieve this, the success of various projects currently launched by the Ministry of Digital Economy and its affiliated institutions was also extensively discussed at this meeting.
