Three people, including a seven-year-old girl and her mother, have died in a severe accident caused by a collision between a car and a three-wheeler in the Delgoda area on the New Kandy Road. This tragic incident occurred on August 19 in this area, which falls under the Meegahawatta Police Division.

Investigations have revealed that this accident occurred when the three-wheeler, traveling from Biyagama towards Delgoda, suddenly attempted to turn to the right side of the road, colliding with a car approaching from the opposite direction.

At the time of the accident, the driver, two women, and two young children traveling in the three-wheeler sustained serious injuries and were immediately admitted to Udupila Hospital. However, after hospitalization, the three-wheeler driver, one woman, and a young girl died. Those who lost their lives are a 69-year-old resident of the Delgoda area, as well as a 39-year-old mother and her 7-year-old daughter, residents of the Siyambalape area.

Additionally, another young girl traveling in the car involved in the accident was also injured and has been admitted to Ragama Hospital for further treatment. Meegahawatta Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
