'Rathmalane Saima' and other underworld figures to Sri Lanka under a special security program

Three underworld figures, including 'Rathmalane Saima', the main associate of organized crime gang leader Kanjipani Imran, who was arrested in Malaysia, are scheduled to be brought to Sri Lanka today under a special security program. They were apprehended during an operation conducted by a team including Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, in collaboration with the International Police and Malaysian Police. After being brought to the country, they are to be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.

Rathmalane Saima, who was arrested, has acted as the main operator in Kanjipani Imran's drug network and underworld activities. Investigations have revealed that Saima, who earned a large amount of money through Kanjipani's drug network, is also the owner of several businesses, including a five-story luxury hotel in Thailand. It is reported that with Saima's arrest, Kanjipani Imran's underworld and drug activities in Malaysia have been completely crippled.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Rohan Olugala, Director of the Walana Anti-Corruption Strike Force, and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Attorney-at-Law) Wasantha Pitiyakumbura of the Legal Division, went to Malaysia a few weeks ago for a special operation to arrest Kanjipani Imran. During these operations, conducted with the assistance of the Malaysian Police and International Police through the Sri Lankan Embassy in Malaysia, investigating officers managed to apprehend Saima, the main criminal's closest associate, before the main criminal himself.

It is reported that upon learning of his main associate's arrest, Kanjipani Imran has been hiding in Malaysia, secretly changing several hideouts. Although the police team that went from Sri Lanka returned midway through the operation, the Malaysian Police and International Police continue their investigations to arrest him. All airports, seaports, and exit routes in Malaysia have already been closed and security tightened to prevent Kanjipani from escaping the country.

This massive covert operation to arrest Kanjipani Imran, a key figure in the local underworld and drug network, has received the full support of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Furthermore, the entire process has been implemented under the direct supervision of the subject minister Ananda Wijepala, Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security Ravi Seneviratne, and Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya.
