Husband surrenders to police after hitting wife on the head with an axe

A husband has surrendered to the police after killing his wife by hitting her on the head with an axe during a family dispute that escalated in the Vinayagapuram area of Borallanda, Nuwara Eliya. The woman who unfortunately lost her life in this manner is 43-year-old Chithra Devi, a resident of the same area.

The suspect has stated to the police that he inflicted these injuries by hitting his wife on the head with an axe due to a family dispute. Although residents immediately took steps to admit the seriously injured woman to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital, the police stated that she died there.

The body of the deceased woman has been placed at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The 32-year-old suspect husband, arrested in connection with the incident, is scheduled to be produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate's Court.
