Father's friend arrested for sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy

Morawaka Magistrate Mr. Anuruddha Samaraweera ordered a friend of the father, accused of sexually abusing a fourteen-year-old school-aged boy, to be remanded until September 01st. The person thus remanded was Liyanarachchi Kankanamge Indunil Priyadarshana, a resident of the Uurubokka area.

This minor school child, aged 14 years and one month, had gone to the playground near his house to engage in flying kites. It has been revealed that the suspect, the father's friend, abused the child there.

Based on the statement given by the child who faced the incident, Sub-Inspector Devika, the OIC of the Children and Women's Bureau of the Uurubokka Police, conducted investigations and arrested the suspect. Subsequently, on the instructions of Uurubokka Police OIC Chief Inspector T.P.W. Palliyaguruge, Police Constable Dhanushka (78230) presented the suspect to the court on the 24th, and further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Children and Women's Bureau.
