Mr. Eric Meyer has officially been sworn in as the new US Ambassador to Sri Lanka at the State Department in Washington D.C.
This information has been confirmed by the US Embassy in Colombo.
It is stated that following the swearing-in ceremony, which was presided over by US Deputy Secretary of State Landa, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the United States Department of State extended its congratulations to him.
Mr. Meyer, a senior Foreign Service officer with extensive experience in South and Central Asian affairs, served as a Senior Bureau Official in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs prior to his appointment as Ambassador.
The US Embassy in Colombo and its staff have stated their expectation to work under his leadership to further strengthen bilateral relations between the United States and Sri Lanka.
The Embassy states that special attention will be paid during Mr. Meyer's tenure to advancing shared interests and priorities between Washington and Colombo.
