Civil Engineer Lakshman killed in an assault by a Korean in Thalawathugoda

Thalangama Police state that a 60-year-old Korean national has been arrested on suspicion of the death of a civil engineer who was hospitalized and receiving treatment after being injured in an assault in the Thalangama, Weli Para area. The unfortunate person who died was K., a resident of Weli Para, Thalangama.

K. D. Lakshman Kumarasinghe, a 58-year-old civil engineer.




The suspect Korean national involved in the incident is married to a Sri Lankan woman and resides in a house on Weli Para. He teaches the Korean language to young Sri Lankans who wish to go to South Korea. Police investigations have revealed that the deceased engineer and the suspect were neighbors, and during an argument that arose between the two over some incident, the Korean national assaulted the engineer.

The civil engineer, who sustained serious injuries due to the assault, was hospitalized and subsequently died while receiving treatment. A team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Thalangama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the arrested Korean national.
