American FBI questioned Shiran Basik

It is reported that Shiran Basik, a leading drug trafficker in the country who was arrested by the Dubai Police on May 26, was extensively interrogated by officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. The discovery of numerous photographs of Iranian missiles and drones on his mobile phone at the time of his arrest has drawn the special attention of American intelligence agencies.

American authorities have focused their primary attention on whether Shiran Basik maintained any connections with Iran's defense or military sectors. However, extensive investigations have revealed that his relationship with Iran was not political or security-related, but rather limited to drug trafficking. Following the confirmation of this fact, United States authorities have ceased questioning him.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan authorities have launched a special investigation into Shiran Basik's illegal assets and other trafficking activities. It has been revealed that he possesses numerous assets, including two houses, two mobile phone shops located in Boralesgamuwa, and five hotels situated on Marine Drive in Colombo.

Furthermore, during Basik's interrogation, information was revealed about a tuition teacher who is said to have been involved in trafficking with him. Police state that the said tuition teacher has now fled to Thailand with his wife.

Red notices have been issued through Interpol for 93 suspects wanted in connection with crimes committed in this country. Additionally, the police have taken steps to repatriate 40 underworld and drug criminals who were residing abroad, from 2024 to date.
