'Bus Lalith', arrested in Dubai, to Sri Lanka the day after tomorrow

Lalith Kannangara, also known as 'Bus Lalith', an organized crime and drug trafficker arrested in Dubai, is scheduled to be brought to Sri Lanka on the upcoming 24th. A team of special officers from the Central Criminal Investigation Department departed for Dubai yesterday morning to take custody of the suspect and return to the island.

This suspect was arrested by the Dubai Police, who acted on a special notification provided by the Central Criminal Investigation Department in October last year.

It was reported in October 2025 that the people in Hanwella, Homagama, and Kaduwela areas were greatly pleased with the arrest of this organized criminal in Dubai. It is mentioned that residents even put up posters throughout these areas expressing their happiness and thanking the government, including the security forces.
