මංගල සාද­ය­කට යන්න කියා මිතු­රි­ය­න්ගෙන් රන්බඩු ඉල්ලා­ගෙන උකස් කරලා මුද­ල්ව­ලින් ගෙද­රට බඩු අරන්

A 42-year-old woman who defrauded female employees of a private company manufacturing ornamental items in the Biyagama Free Trade Zone of gold jewelry worth over 2.5 million rupees has been arrested by the Biyagama Police. Investigations have revealed that she borrowed these gold ornaments from her colleagues, claiming she was attending a wedding.

The arrested suspect is a resident of the Biyagama area, and she had pawned the jewelry she obtained, including gold necklaces, gold rings, and gold bangles, at pawn centers located in Kaduwela and Biyagama - Bandarawatta areas. It has also been revealed that the money fraudulently obtained was spent on purchasing various items needed for a house she is currently building.

Five female employees of the relevant company have already lodged complaints with the police regarding this fraud. The police had made arrangements to present the arrested suspect before the Mahara Magistrate's Court.

Under the instructions of Biyagama Police Station OIC Chief Police Inspector Prabath Paranawithana, officers including Police Inspector Nilantha Rajakaruna, OIC of the Various Complaints Investigation Division, Sub-Inspector Rohana, Police Sergeant Douglas (48947), and Woman Police Constable Kaushalya (12937) led this raid and the subsequent investigations.
