After the riotous situation at Kuruwita Prison, inmates themselves repair the roof.

Prison sources reveal that severe damage has been caused to the roofs of three prison buildings during a fierce clash between two groups of inmates at Kuruwita Prison last Friday. Police state that during this clash, inmates removed the roofing sheets from the buildings and used them to attack security officers.

Prison authorities have taken steps to control the unruly inmates and return them to their cells. However, due to the damage to the roofs, the inmates were severely inconvenienced by the heavy rain that fell in the area last Saturday. They had to endure getting wet inside their cells.

In light of this situation, with the intervention of the police and prison officials, the necessary roofing sheets were provided to repair the roofs. Subsequently, it is reported that the very inmates involved in destroying the roofs voluntarily came forward the day before yesterday (8) and re-roofed and repaired the damaged roofs.
