A woman's harassment escalated, resulting in Bulathsinhala youths being set on fire.

Three individuals, including a married couple, have been arrested by the Bulathsinhala Police in connection with an incident where two youths were doused with petrol and set on fire near a house in the Athura Kewimale Watta area of Bulathsinhala, following a prolonged incident of harassment of a woman. The two youths sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized due to this attack, which occurred on the night of the 10th.




The two youths who sustained serious injuries are residents of the Pahala Welgama area in Bulathsinhala. Those arrested in connection with the incident are a 29-year-old married couple and their 19-year-old brother.

According to police investigations, the woman from the arrested couple works in a garment factory. On the night of the 10th, after finishing work, she got off the bus and was walking home with her husband when the two injured youths harassed her. Her husband, angered by this, scolded the youths, after which the two youths came near the woman's house.




Police state that following an argument between the two parties, the residents threw a bottle containing petrol at the youths and set them on fire. The two youths, who sustained serious injuries in the attack, were first admitted to Horana Base Hospital and later transferred to the National Hospital in Colombo for further treatment. It has also been revealed that residents, angered by this incident, attacked the suspects' house and damaged property.

A team of police officers, including Chief Police Inspector Nishantha Karunaratne, is conducting further investigations into this matter under the instructions of Chief Police Inspector W. A. C. S. K. Abeyratne, the OIC of Bulathsinhala Police.
