University student arrested with illicit liquor

A twenty-one-year-old university student and her mother have been arrested on suspicion by the Akkarayankulam Police in connection with an incident of illegal possession of kasippu (illicit liquor). The two suspects, residents of Ayyanarkudiyiruppu area in Kilinochchi, were arrested during a raid conducted based on information received by the police.

At the time of the arrest, 3,750 ml of illegal kasippu was taken into police custody from the possession of the university student. During the raid conducted by police officers, the student reportedly used abusive language, behaved in a disorderly manner, and protested against the arrest.

Furthermore, the student's mother was also taken into police custody at the same location on charges of obstructing officers' duties, using obscene language, and behaving in a disorderly manner. The Akkarayankulam Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
