Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa states that the government is receiving requests from various parties regarding the revision of the retirement age limit for public sector employees. The Minister mentioned that the government's attention has been drawn to these requests made by relevant sectors, and they are currently being considered.
The Minister revealed this while addressing the media yesterday (12) after participating in the official opening ceremony of the newly established kidney stone removal treatment unit at Mirigama Hospital. He further stated that the government will thoroughly study these requests made by various professionals and take necessary steps in the future.
Speaking at the event, Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa,
“Requests have already been received from various professionals. Not only from the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, and High Court, but also from some professionals in the health service. There are requests from the Prisons Department. An idea has emerged from other professionals that they can work for a longer period by increasing their retirement age. Some might oppose it. But as a government, these requests are being considered.”
