Rahul Gandhi taken into police custody

India's opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has been arrested by police during a protest held near the official residence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This protest was organized against the police crackdown on a student protest demanding reforms in the education system, and during it, Rahul Gandhi called for the Prime Minister to resign from his position.

Rahul Gandhi was joined by his sister Priyanka Gandhi and a group of Congress party members for this protest. The Congress party stated that the police forcibly removed Rahul Gandhi from the protest site and behaved roughly, pushing his sister Priyanka violently into a bus.

Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan also joined the protest, stating that he strongly condemns the attack on peaceful students and youth. During these protests in New Delhi, about 60 protesters were injured in clashes with security forces, and it is considered the largest street rally in the capital in the last five years.

The opposition leader has stated on social media that Prime Minister Modi should resign due to the crackdown on students demanding reforms. He further pointed out that the government is unwilling to take any responsibility and is not even attempting to hold a debate on the matter in Parliament.

Police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protesters, who in response threw stones. Approximately 118 police officers were injured in these clashes, and the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) also joined the protests, demanding the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This incident is referred to as a black day in India's democratic history, and Parliament has also been adjourned due to it.
