One person killed in a shooting at Wattala Palliyawatta

A 39-year-old man, who was seriously injured in a shooting that occurred during a child's birthday party held at a reception hall in the Palliyawatta area of Wattala, has succumbed to his injuries. Although steps were taken to immediately admit the injured person to the Colombo National Hospital following the attack that took place last night (23), he passed away after being hospitalized.

The person who was killed in this manner is a resident of the Borella area.

The Police Media Division states that an unidentified individual, who arrived in a car at the reception hall located near the Mattakkuliya Bridge, also known as the Kadirana Bridge, carried out this shooting and fled. Following the attack, the police later managed to find the car, suspected to have been used by the shooter, abandoned in the Ja-Ela area.

According to preliminary investigations, the police suspect that this murder may have occurred due to an escalating dispute between two groups of drug traffickers. Wattala Police are conducting further investigations to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the incident.
