Dr. Ratna Sri Wijesinghe has decided to resign from the position of Chairman of the Sri Lanka National Library and Documentation Services Board. He states that physical exhaustion and the need for personal rest were the reasons for this decision, and that his trust and respect for the President and the current government have not changed in any way.

Appointed to this position on December 16, 2024, he has continuously served for one year and seven months. Due to the difficulty in further enduring the existing physical exhaustion, he has decided to step down from the position effective tomorrow (01). He emphasized in a special statement that no external factors other than personal reasons have influenced his resignation.

He points out that the decline in physical strength with aging is natural, and since his creative writing and poetry activities have been hampered during the past period, he needs rest for them in the future. He also stated that he is ready to support the new chairman who will be appointed with greater capacity and strength in the future.

Dr. Ratna Sri Wijesinghe, who mentioned that he extends his best wishes for the massive program being carried forward by the government, even from afar, further stated that he would not hesitate to provide support to the institution, the country, and the government to the best of his ability whenever necessary.
