
The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Special Investigations Unit of the Homagama Senior Superintendent of Police Division, who attempted to run over two young women with a motor vehicle and flee, has been arrested by the Meegoda Police. It is reported that this suspect, a Chief Police Inspector, caused these accidents at two different locations last night (25).
According to police information, the first accident occurred near the Meegoda fuel station on the High-Level Road, while the second accident took place in the Wataraka 20th Mile Post area. The suspect caused these two accidents, injuring the young women, and then drove away in the motor vehicle between 11:30 PM and 11:57 PM last night.
During the initial investigations into the incident, it was revealed that the suspect Chief Police Inspector had driven the motor vehicle under the influence of excessive alcohol. Arrangements have been made to produce the arrested suspect before the Homagama Magistrate's Court.
