Harsha narrowly escapes an accident on the expressway

Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva has expressed his gratitude, appreciating the excellent service of the 1969 Roadside Emergency Assistance Team, which acted promptly during a sudden dangerous situation encountered while traveling on the Southern Expressway. Posting a note on his X account, he pointed out that he had to face this frightening experience while traveling with his wife on the evening of the 20th.

The MP stated that he narrowly escaped due to a sudden defect in a rear wheel of the vehicle, which was traveling at a high speed of about 100 kilometers per hour. On this occasion, after a single notification made via the 1969 emergency hotline, the assistance team arrived at the location within a few minutes and took steps to promptly resolve the issue.

Dr. Harsha de Silva, particularly appreciating the professionalism and compassionate service of the team, noted that even though changing the wheel was not part of their official responsibility, they did not allow him to do it and performed the task themselves. Based on this incident, he further urged drivers to conduct a prior inspection of the condition of their vehicle's wheels before traveling on expressways.
