Motorcycle collides with train, father and son die

A tragic incident has been reported from the Kandana Pelanda railway crossing, where a father and son traveling on a motorcycle from Kandana to Ragama were killed after being hit by a train. In this accident, which occurred on the 19th, the young man riding the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. His father, who was riding pillion, was admitted to Ragama Teaching Hospital in a critical condition and unfortunately passed away while receiving treatment, according to the police.

The individuals who prematurely lost their lives in this accident are the 20-year-old son, Welisarage Keshan Jeevaka Fernando, residing in Polwatta, Ragama, and his 48-year-old father, Welisarage Roshan Kumara Fernando. Their bodies have been placed in the mortuary of Ragama Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Regarding this unfortunate incident, further investigations are being conducted by a team of officers, including the OIC of the Traffic Division, A.A.C. Ganepola, under the instructions and guidance of the OIC of Ragama Police Station, Chief Police Inspector Tharaka Ruwan Wijesinghe.
