The Court of Appeal today (03) granted permission to hear a revision petition filed by Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

This petition has been filed challenging a previous decision by the Colombo High Court to continue the conspiracy charge filed against him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa, stating that the order issued by the Colombo High Court is contrary to law, requests the Court of Appeal through his revision petition to completely invalidate the said order.

After a lengthy consideration of the relevant petition by the Court of Appeal bench today, it was decided to hear it, and accordingly, the petition hearing has been fixed for recall on June 16th. It is also noteworthy that the petitioner, Mr. Yoshitha Rajapaksa, personally appeared before the court when this petition was considered by the Court of Appeal.
