
The Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka has officially released the revised timetable for the 2026 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination to the media. Examination Commissioner General A.K.S.
According to this latest revised examination timetable, issued on June 25, 2026, with the signature of Ms. Indika Kumari Liyanage, this year's Advanced Level examination is scheduled to commence on Monday, August 10. The examination, which will be held over several weeks under various subject streams, is set to conclude on Saturday, September 05.According to this revised examination timetable, daily examination activities will be conducted in two sessions: morning and evening. The morning session examinations will begin at 08:30 AM and will continue until 10:30 AM or 11:40 AM, depending on the nature of the subjects. Similarly, the afternoon session examinations will begin at 13:00 PM on some days and 14:00 PM on other days, with time allocated for them to continue until 15:00 PM, 16:00 PM, 16:10 PM, or 17:10 PM. On the first day, August 10, the morning session is scheduled for Combined Mathematics I and Religious Studies, while the evening session is planned for Biology I and Economics I, among several other subjects.
The Department of Examinations has also imposed a special set of rules and regulations for candidates appearing for this year's examination. It has been emphasized that the use of non-programmable calculators is permitted only for the subjects of Accounting, Bio-systems Technology, Engineering Technology, and Science for Technology. The use of calculators is not permitted for any other subject, and it is strictly prohibited to possess correcting fluid, mobile phones, or any other electronic devices inside the examination hall. Bringing such items into the examination hall has also been declared a punishable offense.
