Furthermore, the Opposition Leader expressed strong confidence that the upcoming May Day after the next Provincial Council election would be celebrated with the Chief Ministers of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. The Opposition Leader, who severely criticized the current Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) administration, accused this government of completely destroying all state institutions and the education sector. He pointed out that the government has taken no responsibility for large-scale corruption such as the removal of containers from the port, the import of substandard coal, and the theft of national resources worth twenty-five million dollars. He further stated that the current government, which came to power promising to catch thieves, is now creating new thieves through the 'Palawatte Pacha Walalla' (Palawatte Ring of Lies).
Mr. Premadasa emphasized that these corruptions and irregularities would have continued unchecked if not for the intervention and attention of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya. He recalled that his alliance, together with other opposition groups, was able to send home a Speaker with fake certificates, as well as the minister who imported substandard coal for the Lakvijaya power plant and the secretary involved, within a few weeks.
He pointed out that the entire population, including farmers, fishermen, laborers, and professionals, are currently in a state of severe helplessness, and the promised compensation of ten lakhs and one crore rupees for the people affected by the 'Ditwa' cyclone has not yet been received. He stated that his alliance would introduce a new political culture that provides real solutions to people's problems, replacing the seventy-six-year-old political system that forgets the people. He further mentioned that, in parallel, the 'Sakwala' and 'Husma' social welfare programs would be continued, and modern education based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) would be introduced into the school system with the aim of building a smart country.
The Opposition Leader expressed his gratitude for the congratulatory message sent by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe for this May Day rally and stated that the committee proposed by the former President for the two parties to work together is no longer necessary. He firmly asserted that the United National Party and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya have already united, and no room will be given to the minority conspirators attempting to disrupt this unity.
