Two shootings in Katugastota and Galle

A young man who was injured in a shooting that occurred around 2.45 AM today in the Gohagoda area of Katugastota has been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital for treatment. Police Media Spokesperson F.

U. Wuttler stated that the person who was shot is a 28-year-old individual working as a supervisor in the cleaning department of the Kandy National Hospital. He sustained injuries to his ear and shoulder, and the shooting occurred at a location about 20 kilometers away from his home. It is suspected that this crime may have been committed due to a personal dispute, and the Katugastota Police have already launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the Police Media Division confirms that a shooting also occurred yesterday (03) inside the Galle Prison. Two imprisoned inmates attempted to escape, and prison officials fired shots to prevent their escape. It is reported that one inmate sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder. The injured inmate has been admitted to Karapitiya Hospital for further medical treatment.
