The WhatsApp messages sent by the soldier to the female constable are 'genital organ' videos.

A soldier who allegedly sexually harassed a female police constable on duty in the Kilinochchi area by displaying his nudity via WhatsApp on several occasions was arrested by Jayapuram Police on the 29th.

The person thus arrested is a forty-one-year-old married man permanently residing in the Alayapaththuwa area of Anuradhapura, who is attached to an army camp in Kilinochchi. This arrest was made as a result of a lengthy police investigation initiated following a complaint made by the said constable in July last year. According to the complaint, the soldier had repeatedly called her via WhatsApp and, despite being told not to call her again, sent bothersome messages. While sending messages asking her to sleep with him, he also sent video clips displaying and moving his genitals from various angles, causing her severe mental distress. 



The complaint further states that in those videos, the soldier spoke obscene things, strongly pressuring her to engage in a sexual act. Although the constable complained about the soldier's harassment to the police station where she works, there was little interest shown in it, and the soldier was arrested only after 10 months.

Jayapuram Police is currently conducting further investigations regarding this suspect soldier on the charge of sexually harassing a woman by showing his nudity. Police sources further state that after these investigations, the suspect is expected to be produced before the court.
